SpiderPan is a set of three cooking and frying pans of different sizes, each with foldable handles. The smaller pans can be stored inside the larger one, thanks to the foldable handles, making SpiderPan a space-saving cookware set. Moreover, the handles can be folded while cooking to prevent accidents that can occur due to the long handles of traditional cooking pans. The pans also have an increased base surface, which enhances energy efficiency.
The design of SpiderPan is unique and practical. The main body of the cooking pan is made of cast iron, with a ceramic coating inside the main body allowing for diverse models. The handles are made of laser-cut stainless steel and wooden parts, and the lids are manufactured by glass molding. The dimensions of the pans are as follows: the large pan measures 350/335/125 mm, the medium pan 285/275/90 mm, and the small pan 225/215/65 mm.
The design process for SpiderPan began with an analysis of alternative folding mechanisms for handles. Bilici also conducted form analysis to maximize the inner volume of the pans while ensuring they occupy less volume when stored. Research on heat transfer efficiency, focusing on cookware tools and heat sinks used in various product types, also informed the design process.
The project, which started in March 2016 in Ankara and concluded in July 2016 in the same city, faced several challenges. The most significant of these was finding a creative and aesthetically pleasing solution to the problems posed by standard pan handles. Designing a nesting cooking pan set also presented difficulties.
In conclusion, SpiderPan is a testament to the power of innovative design in addressing modern lifestyle needs. By combining space-saving features with energy efficiency, Receb Bilici has created a product that is not only practical but also aesthetically pleasing. The Silver A' Design Award it received is a testament to the design's excellence and innovation.
